Why Reiki ? :
Some have asked me why Reiki? I myself have wondered why I was drawn to train as a Reiki practitioner. Reiki was a calling, a simple but powerful appellation I had heard only a couple of times throughout my life but that would induce a curious reverberation deep within me, which was impossible to ignore. I went into my initiation pretty much a blank canvas knowing only that it was a Japanese healing art which promoted deep relaxation and well-being, reducing stress and in turn promoting healing.
What Does Reiki Mean? :
Without going into the history of Reiki, I will share the meaning of the term by way of expressing its purpose. The word Reiki is actually two Japanese words; Rei—which means “a higher power” and Ki — “life force energy”. Merged, the meaning becomes “divinely guided life force energy”. As such, Reiki’s purpose is to increase and balance out our energy systems. When our energy system is sluggish, weak or blocked, we expose ourselves to ailments and illness. Reiki clears and charges the body’s aura by way of energy vortexes known as chakras and thus, rejuvenates and heals.
Something Deep :
I took my first level of reiki training four years ago now. I enjoyed the initiation very much, but in all honesty hadn’t experienced anything remotely earth shattering during my attunement or throughout this training. It wasn’t actually until I returned to my normal daily activities that I began to sense that something profound and otherworldly had indeed taken place. For instance, lying in bed I actually began to feel like I was inside a universal pulse, thump-thump, thump-thump. The bed I was lying on seemed to ripple and morph in and out and oddly this seemed perfectly normal and reassuring. My hands coursed energy, my entire body vibrated. Not only did electronic devices become extremely unpredictable around me in the months that ensued, but so did everyone around me, myself included, as a clearing took place.
An Ocean and a Sea:
Universal energy is omnipresent. However, it was only at this time that I became acutely aware of what his really meant. I felt energy everywhere throughout my physical self and my environment. I was in fact one and the same with all around me. I liken this sensation to swimming below the surface of the ocean. When still and simply floating, you can feel the surrounding water as well as the current and perhaps even a gentle rocking, all the while conscious that although you are within it, you are separate from it. I had become acutely aware of another sea, one of energy that encompasses all, wherein we do not feel separate from but one with it. And so, it was after my level one course, that many wondrous and curious experiences would take place. I had become Alice in Wonderland, I had unknowingly jumped down a rabbit hole to experience a world replete with wondrous perfect oddities. Each level of Reiki thereafter has added to these happenings, only in a quieter, less conspicuous but nonetheless important manner.
Divine Magic :
I know from what other practitioners have shared with me that none of us after a level of attunement are left untouched or unchanged for the better, nor are we immune to an expanded consciousness that is Reiki’s gift. I have become grounded, more peaceful and focused and more accepting of what is. I increasingly live more in the now. I can honestly state that as a result of Reiki I am creating a life I love and I look forward to what is yet to come, knowing that I am swimming in a sea of pure divine magic.
Love & Light,
Michelle Rose
