We Are Each of Us a Leaf in the Tree of Life

Many Leaves Make up a Forest
Many Leaves Make up a Forest

From Barren to Lush:

I was driving down a highway this week when I was struck by a thought. Throughout the weeks past, I had been observing the transformation of the forest off in the distance, from thousands of penetrable plain grey sentinels in winter into ever-increasing patches of lime blush. Seemingly overnight, linden and emerald-green leaves had burst open and were fluttering full-grown in the breeze. It dawned on me how nature is so unobtrusive, gentle and simple. Each foliage instinctively, buds, burgeons and unfurls and when all have played their part, a masterpiece is born.

The Power of One:

Imagine if every one of us similarly participated in a common role, wherein we all played our part. Not the part of our neighbours, or the town, but ours alone, and others did likewise. Can you envision the splendour, the power, the change? Really ponder this for a moment. We are only responsible for our own actions but were all or most of us to accomplish something in tandem, what magnificence we could co-create.

What if we collectively refused to purchase products we know destroy bees? That product would all but stop to exist almost overnight and our beloved bees could thrive and in turn pollinate the foods we eat, thereby thwarting the very real threat of food shortage.

What if we each of us purchased a $20 USD bracelet from 4Ocean to financially support the removal of 2 pounds of trash from the ocean and coastlines? How rapidly we could remove what has been carelessly dumped into our precious oceans over lifetimes.

What if each of us planted just one tree? Not only would we beautify our world, but increase habitat for wildlife and precious oxygen along with reducing our carbon footprint.

That Someone is You and I:

We often have the reaction of thinking that somebody should do something about this or that, which brings me to a line I read at some point although not verbatim. “When you think that someone should do something, that someone is you.”

I am not so naïve as to believe everyone will act responsibly, or conscientiously do their bit, regardless, we can still blossom into a magnificent tree, one leaf at a time. Do your part and I’ll do mine and together we shall heal our planet and humanity.

Love & Light,

Michelle Rose
