This Valentine’s, Love Yourself First

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner and love in the air, I have chosen instead to focus on love of another kind - self-love.


Yes, time alone for yourself, to ponder and re-energize. Consider treating yourself to a massage, or an evening at a spa; a weekend get-away to write, ski or meditate or even to ice-fish or para-ski. If resources are limited, draw yourself a wonderful bath complete with candles and music; take a long walk in the woods, or curl up by a fireplace armed with a good book. Whatever you choose, spend these minutes consciously with yourself. Ensure that you will not be disturbed to allow yourself to fully benefit from leaving it all behind.


Give yourself the gift of time to disconnect, guilt free. Your relationship with yourself is the longest and most intimate relationship you will ever share, so, it should be the one you take special time to invest in. Learn to pamper yourself from time to time; it can be very rewarding.


Oh, go on, write yourself a “Will you be my valentine” card. I won’t tell. 😉
