The topic of chakras and the aura is vast; however, the basics alone are all one needs to begin to understand and to make the connection between oneself and any physical, emotional or spiritual ailments or disease.

In my last blog, I mentioned that chakras are energy vortices that run along the spine which can be damaged by various causes, including, but not limited to, trauma, illness, abuse, malnourishment and neglect. I discussed the first of the seven main chakras, being the Root Chakra, which is located at the base of the spine, and is associated with survival and self-preservation. Now let’s continue to the second of the seven main chakras, the Sacral Chakra.

The following excerpts of information on deficiency, excess and balance within the sacral chakra are taken from an extraordinary work of art by Anodea Judith - in her book Eastern Body, Western Mind.

Sacral Chakra—Chakra #2:

  • Associated with sexuality, emotions and self-gratification

  • Located in the abdomen, governing the genitals, lower back and hips

When this chakra is deficient, the following issues may arise:

  • Rigidity in body and attitudes

  • Frigidity, fear of sex

  • Poor social skills

  • Denial of pleasure

  • Excessive boundaries

  • Fear of change

  • Lack of desire, passion, or excitement

When this chakra has excess energy, the effects can entail

  • Sexual acting out, sexual addiction

  • Pleasure addiction

  • Excessively strong emotions, ruled by emotions (hysteria, bipolar mood swings, crisis junkies)

  • Oversensitive

  • Poor boundaries, invasion of others

  • Seductive manipulation

  • Emotional dependency

  • Obsessive attachment

When this chakra is balanced;

  • Graceful movement

  • Emotional intelligence

  • Ability to experience pleasure

  • Nurturance of self and others

  • Ability to change

  • Healthy boundaries

For those of you curious to dive deeper into the issues, traumas and abuses, physical malfunctions and healing practices of our chakras, I cannot recommend enough the above-mentioned author and book.

Although it is not necessary to understand from where an illness is derived in order to heal it, I believe through, my own experience, that connecting the dots does facilitate the process. Happy reading.
