A Letter to the Universe

Updated: Jun 12, 2021

My precious oracle cards.

For many years now I’ve been practicing a ritual that I look forward to each New Years Day. This year, however, the Universe (those energies that awaken deep within me and notify me of big changes rolling in, and to prepare myself), started prodding me weeks in advance, so much so, that I decided taking a second week off during the Christmas holidays might be in order. I have learned to listen to and make room for the universe’s nudges, for generally I am thrilled with the changes that follow although not always at first.

I had the urge to return to dream work, and add daily meditations and reiki healing for myself which, of course, generally means fallouts, one being getting ill during the entire second week of vacation. Deep healing work breaks down blockages held in the aura and in the body much like a lymph massage drains extra toxins from the body. Things get worse, before they get better. I have had to take more time off as my body is still purging. And as with every dark cloud there is a silver lining, and in my case several. The principle “Healer, heal thyself” essentially means, the more I heal the better a channel I become for energy work with my clients. In addition, I am catching up on my sleep with long daily naps, catching up on some reading, and am able to work on business strategies as well.

My ritual entails a past year review to determine the changes that I would like to see manifest in the year ahead. It includes an annual tarot reading reviewing the top influences of the twelve months to come, the possible challenges that I may face, and how best to address them. And like any ritual, I prepare my space, first smudging my home in its entirety, by burning (this time), a heavenly scented Palo Santo stick, to remove old and stagnant energy. Then I proceed to decorate and embellish my beautiful solid mango wood dining table with my crystals, my tarot and oracle cards, all of which, further protect and magnify wonderful healing energy for the work to come. Once I am ready to begin, I light my candle and my salt lamp, put on soft classical music, invoke my angels and guides, meditate on my purpose and proceed to choose my cards.

This year, I felt the need to add a step, to write a letter to the Universe, to acknowledge and embrace the new energies and changes to come. As I reread this letter, I realized just how far I have come. I trust implicitly in these new currents even though I know not what they bring. This utter trust cements my commitment, and I now wait for the next nudge. In the meantime, I learn to be quiet so that I may hear it and thus, take action when the occasion arises.

May 2020 bless you with much health, love and direction.
